U不良研究所 Law announces award winners from Class of 2020

U不良研究所 Law is pleased to announce the winners of the Campbell McLaurin Achievement Award, the Dean Michael Wylie Social Responsibility Award, and the Grant McKibben Prize.

Campbell McLaurin Achievement Award

Joey Beller is the winner of the 2020 Campbell McLaurin Award. This award is presented annually to a graduating student who has not only achieved high academic standing, but who has also made a significant contribution to the life of the Law School.

Joey received all the votes for the 2020 award, being recognized for his work with Student Legal Assistance and the Society of Law Students, as well as editor of the Moot Times and helping to create the International Law Society and the Criminal Law Society.

As one nominator put it, 鈥淛oey鈥檚 positive attitude has also made an excellent impression in and outside of the law school.鈥

Dean Michael Wylie Social Responsibility Award

Sara Sicherman is the 2020 winner of the Dean Michael Wylie Social Responsibility Award, for her significant contributions to the understanding or resolution of social or human rights issues while in law school.

Sara received all of the votes for the 2020 award, being recognized for her work to establish the Criminal Law Society, as a volunteer with Pro Bono Students 不良研究所 Human Rights Project, and as a workshop leader with the Law Needs Feminism Because 2020 national forum. Sara has also dedicated her time as a volunteer with the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program, 不良研究所 Legal Guidance, and Immigrant Services 不良研究所.

Grant McKibben Prize

Blair Wentworth is the 2020 winner of the Grant McKibben Prize, which is presented to a graduating student who epitomizes the energy and spirit of the U不良研究所 Law community.

Blair has been an active member of the Society of Law Students throughout law school, and was president in 2019-2020, and is always ready to organize his classmates towards contributing to any cause or attending any event. Blair has been an advocate for students with the law school administration, and he has been able to build an atmosphere of friendship and fun within the faculty.

According to one nominator, Blair has 鈥渟elflessly put a ton of time and effort into making these past three years memorable for all of us, and he truly deserves to be recognized with this award.鈥
