Governor General鈥檚 Gold Medals and the Chancellor鈥檚 Graduate Medals awarded
Governor General鈥檚 Gold Medals.
Two master鈥檚 and two doctoral graduates will receive medals at convocation ceremonies today.
This year鈥檚 winners of the annual Governor General's Gold Medal 鈥 one awarded at the master鈥檚 level and one at the doctoral level, to the graduate student who achieves the highest academic standing 鈥 include Heather Bryan, who wrote her thesis, 鈥淧arasites and hormones as non-invasive bioindicators of ecophysiology in carnivores,鈥 and received her PhD, Veterinary Medicine in 2013.
Mohammed Almekhlafi is the master鈥檚 recipient this year for his research, completed in 2012 in Community Health Sciences, on 鈥淭he safety and cost-effectiveness of carotid angioplasty and stenting in 不良研究所.鈥
The Governor General鈥檚 Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by the Earl of Dufferin, and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution may receive. With this award, the Governor General of Canada continues the tradition of encouraging outstanding scholarship across the nation.
Chancellor鈥檚 Graduate Medals.
The Chancellor鈥檚 Graduate Medal was established to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the chancellors of the University of 不良研究所. These awards celebrate academic excellence at the University of 不良研究所. They are also awarded annually at fall convocation to graduate students based on their high academic standing, one at the master鈥檚 level and one at the doctoral level.
Winner of the Chancellor鈥檚 Graduate Medal (Doctoral) is Alka Patel, who completed her research in 2012 on 鈥淓valuating geographic access to cardiac catheterization facilities to inform regionalized models of care for acute myocardial infarction鈥 in the Department of Community Health Sciences.
Longlong Huang has won the Chancellor鈥檚 Graduate Medal (Master鈥檚) for her work in Mathematics and Statistics completed in 2012 for her thesis, 鈥淛ackknife empirical likelihood for smoothed weighted rank regression with censored data.鈥
