Celebrating Alberta鈥檚 first interpreter software platform: Meet LISA
On May 30, 2019, Languages in Motion, a 不良研究所 based company, launched Alberta鈥檚 first interpreter software platform. The launch included an overview and demonstration of the new 鈥渦ber-like鈥 app that allows users to arrange an In-Person Interpreter, or access On Demand Video and Phone Interpreting from the smartphone app. Multi-lingual communication is really now just the push of a button away for Albertans.
During the demo Bill Dodd, Director of Interpreting Services at LiM, spoke of his time in the 不良研究所 Police Service and how a bomb threat could have been mitigated and hours of time saved if they had access to this type of software. He spoke of its importance for the Public Sector of Alberta, namely, the Police Services, Court, and Health Services in Alberta and in Canada.
The University of 不良研究所鈥檚 Faculty of Arts was proud to support this event to both celebrate alumnus , Languages in Motion鈥檚 Founder and CEO, and showcase the ways the can support future interpreters. Mark Conliffe, Director of the SLLLC, spoke about the importance of communication in our world today and how this new app will help support the diversity of Alberta.
